Abstract

This final paper aims to investigate the importance of analysis, with an emphasis on psychoanalysis, in the process of coping with grief. Grief is the emotional response to death, an event inherent to every human being. It is characterized by a set of emotional, cognitive and behavioral reactions that are considered an adaptive response to loss. The importance of this work lies in the evaluation of the positive impacts of analysis in the elaboration of grief, a theme that has assumed an extremely prominent position in the global scenario. The general objective of the work is to analyze what the authors understand about grief, through a theoretical review about investigating the relevance of psychoanalytic analysis in the process of coping with it. The specific objectives are to promote a discussion about grief, exploring its concepts and its different forms of manifestation, to define what is normal grief and pathological grief and thus to identify the main symptoms and phases of grief. Psychoanalysis, since the time of Freud, has provided valuable insights into the unconscious mechanisms that regulate our emotional reactions to loss. In this way, psychoanalytic analysis enables the subject to understand the most complex feelings related to grief, helping the individual to face pain in a healthier and more adaptive way. The role of analysis in this context is to help the individual find ways to understand what is happening and why it is necessary to experience the stages of this process, which is so necessary for mental health, understanding it as a natural process. With the support of analysis, it is possible for the individual to explore their deepest feelings and find meaning in the loss. The research presented is of a qualitative nature, with a bibliographic study that aims to examine the importance of analysis in the process of coping with grief.
