Abstract

The use of cannabidiol (CBD) for the management of chronic pain in dogs has been gaining prominence within the field of veterinary medicine as a natural and promising alternative. As one of the extracts from the Cannabis sativa plant, cannabidiol has shown potential for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects without containing the compounds that cause psychoactive effects. Clinical reports and studies conducted by professionals demonstrate its effectiveness in various types of conditions that cause significant pain and discomfort in dogs, while also helping to relieve stress and anxiety, thereby improving animal well-being. It is becoming a great option for reducing the doses of opioids and NSAIDs, minimizing side effects and the potential for medication resistance. However, it is a substance that still requires further research and testing to adapt dosing for safe administration. For this reason, bringing this topic on the agenda is of paramout importance.
