Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent, benign, inflammatory, and multifactorial disease that affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age¹ and can be asymptomatic in 2 to 22% of women². The pathophysiology of endometriosis is multifactorial and remains a subject of debate among theories based on clinical and experimental evidence. The clinical presentation of the patient can range from mild symptoms to severe pain, with infertility being one of the symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of endometriosis. Treatment of endometriosis in women with infertility should be considered on an individual basis, and a correct diagnosis can explain the clinical symptoms and even increase the patient's chance of becoming pregnant, in addition to improving the clinical symptoms affecting her.
