Karate, a Japanese martial art, involves high-intensity movements that, while providing physical and mental benefits, also expose practitioners to a high risk of musculoskeletal injuries. In this context, sports physiotherapy plays an essential role in the prevention and rehabilitation of athletes, optimizing recovery and promoting safety during practice. The objective of this experience report is to highlight the role of physiotherapists in the prevention and treatment of injuries in Karate-Do practitioners, highlighting the strategies used, the results achieved, and the challenges encountered. The experience reported refers to over 40 years of practicing and teaching martial arts, combined with physiotherapy training. The main injuries observed include sprains, muscle strains, tendonitis, and contusions, varying according to the level of practice. The preventive strategies used include dynamic warm-ups, functional stretching, mobility exercises, proprioception, and specific strengthening, in addition to technical correction. In cases of injury, the most commonly used resources were cryotherapy, functional taping, kinesiotherapy, and individualized functional rehabilitation, with positive results in recovery and reduced recurrence. The conclusion is that the integration of karate and physical therapy enhances performance and preserves the health of athletes, reinforcing the importance of preventive and multidisciplinary approaches in sports.
