Abstract

This study aimed to develop a scientifically based physical exercise protocol for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) levels 1 and 2, aiming to improve motor, cognitive, and social skills. This is a narrative literature review conducted on Google Scholar between April and August 2025. Articles published within the defined time frame that addressed physical exercise, motor activities, and intervention strategies for children with ASD were included. Duplicate studies, studies published outside the established timeframe, or those lacking a scientific basis were excluded. Initially, 78 studies were identified, and after applying the selection criteria, six comprised the detailed analysis. Based on the evidence found, an illustrated protocol of adapted exercises was developed, covering motor, social, and sensory aspects. The results showed that physical exercise significantly contributes to the overall development of children with ASD, promoting balance, motor coordination, social interaction, and autonomy. Playful and adapted activities, such as color circuits, balance challenges, and cooperative games, proved effective in promoting engagement and inclusion. The conclusion is that the proposed protocol can assist physical education professionals in fostering an inclusive, healthy, and stimulating environment. Future studies recommend developing specific protocols for children with ASD level 3, considering their specific support needs.
