This article analyzes how communication, through the Portuguese language discipline, is organized in the curriculum of the Occupational Safety Technical Course integrated into high school, offered by a state school in the North of Brazil. The research is based on the foundations of the Integrated Curriculum and comprehensive human development, discussing the importance of the connection between general and specific knowledge in the development of communication skills essential for professional training. A qualitative approach is used, with documentary analysis of the syllabuses and interviews with the Portuguese language teacher and the course coordinator. The results indicate diverse perceptions on interdisciplinary coordination and highlight pedagogical and institutional challenges in the effective integration of curricular components.
