This study investigated the role of pedagogical mediation in Distance Education (EAD), focusing on the tutor as a facilitator between content and students. The central question addressed how pedagogical mediation impacts student learning, considering the tutor’s active role in the process. The general objective was to analyze the importance of the tutor’s role in pedagogical mediation, highlighting their responsibilities and challenges. The research followed a bibliographic methodology, based on a review of existing literature on the topic. The development discussed the tutor’s function, the importance of training in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and pedagogical practices in EAD. The final considerations emphasize that pedagogical mediation is essential for the success of learning in EAD, highlighting the need for continuous training for tutors and the importance of using educational technologies to foster interactive and personalized learning. Further areas for research, such as empirical analysis of the impact of pedagogical mediation on student performance, were suggested.
