This study aimed to highlight that family planning is an essential part of lifelong healthcare, playing a key role in preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), reducing unplanned pregnancies, and promoting users' well-being. Nursing plays a highly relevant role in this process, with nurses being responsible for clarifying doubts, providing guidance on contraceptive methods, and monitoring users from the first consultation. The objective of this study was to understand how family planning can reduce barriers to access to information, strengthen communication between adolescents and adults, and contribute to sexual education in contexts of social vulnerability. The methodology adopted was a qualitative bibliographic review, analyzing articles from the BVS, SciELO, and PubMed databases, using the descriptors “family planning,” “nursing care,” and “vulnerability.” The results highlighted family planning as a fundamental tool in promoting sexual and reproductive health, emphasizing the need to expand the discussion in schools and families. The research reinforces the importance of shared responsibility, equal education about contraception, and the prevention of unplanned pregnancies, promoting the development of healthier and more conscious life projects, especially among vulnerable populations.
