The skin, constantly exposed to external aggressions, directly reflects the effects of oxidative stress, accelerating the skin aging process. This is a bibliographical study with a qualitative approach, aimed to analyze the impacts of oxidative stress on the skin and the effectiveness of using antioxidants and photoprotectors in its prevention. For this purpose, scientific articles published in the last five years and relevant works of literature were used to support the theoretical discussion and understand the role of the aesthetic biomedical professional in preventive guidance. Based on the analysis, it was possible to perceive that strategies aimed at prevention, such as regular antioxidants (topical and oral) and adequate photoprotection, are more effective in preserving skin integrity than corrective interventions applied late. In addition, the study reinforces the importance of the role of the aesthetic biomedical professional in promoting skin health and preventing premature aging, through conduct based on scientific evidence.
