Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the impact of the absence of librarians in encouraging reading in the school library, highlighting the importance of the school library in disseminating and promoting reading. The research carried out is characterized as bibliographical and shows that although there are several factors that negatively interfere with the reading process, reading is an essential social and educational practice. The conclusion is that the librarian is a fundamental professional in the school library, and must exploit his potential, work in partnership with teachers and work to benefit the formation of readers. They must also take action on behalf of the school library so that it can meet the needs of its users and be a favorable place for reading.
