This article aimed to analyze the main challenges and strategies related to work management in Primary Health Care (PHC) within the context of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). An integrative literature review was conducted based on classical authors of Collective Health and scientific articles indexed in national databases. Documents addressing work organization, care coordination, continuing education, and public policies aimed at PHC were included. The results show that although Primary Care is recognized as the preferred entry point to the SUS, its effectiveness is still limited by precarious labor conditions, fragmented actions, and the absence of ongoing educational processes. On the other hand, strategies such as strengthening collegial management, valuing continuing education, and integrating education, service, and community are highlighted as alternatives to improve care. It is concluded that work management in Primary Care requires addressing structural inequalities and investing in educational and organizational processes that promote interdisciplinary, critical care focused on users' needs.
