We live in a society that claims to be democratic in all its spheres and dimensions; therefore, in educational institutions, it is no different. Managers and coordinators preach a work backed by democracy, aiming for the participation of everyone: teachers, employees, parents, and students in decision-making, but will it be enough for the school management to declare itself democratic and open its doors to the community for this participation to happen? What mechanisms can be used to promote this participation? The school needs to know the community in which it is inserted, as the objectives and purposes for the students' educational process must stem from the reality lived within the community to which they belong. It is important and necessary a greater involvement between both, so that they can listen and be heard. The construction of the PPP and school councils are important mechanisms to promote the school-community articulation, strengthening and qualifying the forms of popular participation in decision-making processes.
