Abstract

This article analyzes the right to visitation in the resocialization process of prisoners in southern Bahia, based on human rights and the national and international legal framework. The objective is to understand how visitation contributes to maintaining family ties and social reintegration, as well as to identify the obstacles faced by families and inmates. The methodology is bibliographic and documentary, with qualitative analysis. The results indicate that the realization of the right to visitation is essential for the human dignity of prisoners and their families and is a relevant factor in reducing criminal recidivism. It concludes that the reformulation of public penitentiary policies is necessary to guarantee this right as an effective tool for social reintegration.
