This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law (Law No. 11.340/2006) in the prevention and combat of domestic and family violence against women in Brazil. The research investigates the implementation of the legal and institutional mechanisms provided by the law, evaluating their efficiency in protecting victims and holding perpetrators accountable. The methodology includes the analysis of statistical data, court rulings, public policies, and academic studies. The study highlights the progress made since the law’s enactment, as well as persistent challenges such as underreporting and the lack of adequate support services. It concludes that, although the Maria da Penha Law represents a significant milestone in tackling gender-based violence, its full effectiveness depends on the integration of public institutions and the strengthening of prevention policies.
