The article explores the historical persistence of violence against women, from ancient societies to the present day, and analyzes the efforts of the Paraná Military Police (PMPR) to combat this violence, especially through the Operação Mulher Segura (Safe Woman Operation). The study highlights the importance of the Maria da Penha Law and other legal initiatives in Brazil to protect women, but also points out the continuity of the problem, evidenced by recent data on femicides. The quali-quantitative research uses a literature review, documentary analysis, and quantitative data to evaluate the effectiveness of the PMPR's actions, concluding that the Operação Mulher Segura represents a significant advance, although underreporting and the persistence of violence demand continuous and improved efforts from the police forces to confront it.
