Abstract

This study aims to analyze the electronic sports modality, popularly known as eSports, from a legal and regulatory perspective, with emphasis on the contracts entered into by athletes active in this environment. To achieve this objective, an initial comparison will be made between this modality and traditional sports, highlighting the growth in popularity and profitability. Subsequently, the current market will be examined, both nationally and internationally, focusing on countries such as Brazil, the United States, and South Korea, in order to compare the different legal regulatory models adopted. Finally, an analysis will be proposed regarding the feasibility of implementing specific regulation for the contracts of these athletes within the Brazilian legal framework, considering aspects such as legal admissibility, future perspectives, and intersections with employment contracts in traditional sports.
