Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, characterized by bronchial obstruction, inflammation and hyperresponsiveness. Its main mechanism involves the action of inflammatory cells such as T lymphocytes and eosinophils, in addition to mediators such as leukotrienes and cytokines. Vitamin D plays an important role in modulating the inflammatory process and the immune response, and its relationship with asthma is mediated by several complex biological mechanisms. This study aims to review the scientific literature on the influence of vitamin D on the management of asthma in children and during the prenatal period. The research was carried out on the SciELO and PubMed platforms, and included 25 scientific articles published between 2018 and 2024, selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Studies of the clinical trial, randomized controlled clinical study and observational study type were considered. The results analyzed showed a significant association between vitamin D levels and asthma control, suggesting benefits in the treatment of this condition. It is concluded that vitamin D may have an effect on improving childhood asthma, due to its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, being an important factor in asthma. The objective is to address the effects of vitamin D in children with asthma.
