The present study aims to analyze the use of advertising in dentistry, assessing the ethical and legal boundaries surrounding the promotion of dental services, and highlighting their implications for professional ethics. This research was conducted through a literature review, selecting articles that are relevant and closely related to the chosen topic. The results obtained from the analysis revealed that most professionals do not comply with the regulations established by the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO) regarding the advertising of dental services. It was also found that the lack of instruction in ethics and deontology within academic institutions is one of the main causes for the professionals’ unawareness of current advertising regulations in dentistry. The study concludes that this issue is highly relevant to dental professionals, as it helps prevent the trivialization of dentistry and the services provided.
