Humanization during childbirth is a relevant topic in the public health debate, as it highlights the need to advocate for and ensure respectful and safe care for pregnant women, while also emphasizing the importance of nurses' participation throughout the process. Given this, the present research aimed to analyze academic works discussing nursing care during humanized childbirth. To achieve this goal, the following specific objectives were outlined: (i) to describe aspects of pregnancy found in the literature; (ii) to characterize the humanization of natural childbirth from the perspective of the Policy for Attention to Childbirth and Birth. The methodology consisted of a convenience literature review, searching the Virtual Health Library (BVS in portuguese) platform for works addressing humanization and the role of nursing care during childbirth. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, six articles were selected for analysis and discussion. Thus, it was possible to conclude that the humanization of childbirth remains a challenge in public health, as it requires attention to different aspects of women's care, underscoring the need for nurse training and professional practice that prioritizes, above all, welcoming and compassionate care.
