Nursing care in primary healthcare plays a vital role in wound dressing, being a routine practice in the service that ensures the promotion, prevention, and recovery of patients with wounds/lesions. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by nursing professionals in the treatment of wounds/lesions in Primary Health Care, in order to identify solutions and improvements in service delivery. This is an integrative review (Galvão & Pereira, 2014), with a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach (Prodanov & Freitas, 2013). The databases used were the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), covering the period from 2021 to 2025, using the following descriptors: “Nursing,” “Wounds AND Injuries,” “Material Resources AND Health,” and “Primary AND Care.” Based on the data collected, it can be stated that wound dressing is not merely the treatment of the lesion, but a process that involves health education, matrix support, self-care, among others—therefore encompassing a complex context that constitutes a body of knowledge. Thus, it is essential to understand the challenges these professionals face in providing care, thereby analyzing ways to improve health services.
