THE ROLE OF THE EXPERT IN FORENSIC DENTISTRY: DEONTOLOGICAL ASPECTS AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN EXPERT PRACTICE

Introduction: Forensic Dentistry is an essential specialty for assisting in the resolution of legal issues, and is widely used in human identification, injury analysis and assessment of professional liability. The work of a forensic dentist requires technical and scientific knowledge and respect for ethical principles, such as professional secrecy, impartiality and transparency in the preparation of expert reports. General objective: Analyze the main deontological aspects and ethical responsibilities in dental expert practice, highlighting their importance for the credibility of reports and justice. Methodology: An integrative literature review with a qualitative approach was conducted, analyzing articles published between 2020 and 2025. Specific descriptors were used and inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select relevant studies on ethics in forensic dentistry. Results: The analysis highlighted the relevance of professional ethics in Forensic Dentistry, addressing topics such as professional secrecy, impartiality in the preparation of reports, and gaps in academic training in Bioethics and Deontology. In addition, active teaching methodologies were discussed to improve the ethical understanding of future experts. Conclusion: The review highlighted the need to reinforce the ethical training of forensic dentists, ensuring that their work is based on transparency, impartiality, and commitment to the truth. The implementation of innovative educational strategies and greater regulation in the area of forensic dentistry are essential to ensure ethical and qualified professional practice.
