Society undergoes constant transformations, and the educational field reflects these changes. The High School Reform, established by Law No. 13,415/2017 and based on the Common National Curriculum Base, modified the Law of Guidelines and Bases and defined essential learning for basic education. Despite its modernization goals, the reform faced criticism regarding its development process and the challenges it posed. This study analyzes the impacts of the new high school implementation on Chemistry teaching, focusing on teachers from the state school network of Paulistana-PI. The research, based on document analysis and semi-structured interviews, revealed a reduction in Chemistry class hours, hindering teacher adaptation. Teachers reported a lack of specific training and clear guidance for the new model, as well as inadequate school infrastructure. The findings highlight the central role of teachers in implementing curricular changes and the need for greater institutional support. It is concluded that the implementation of the new high school requires critical reflection on the real conditions of education in the country and recognition of the teacher's role in educational transformation.
