The objective of this study was to identify adverse events that hinder the administration of intravenous medication in pediatric patients. This is a bibliographic research based on scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, selected from the Virtual Health Library database. Data analysis followed the PRISMA model, resulting in four included studies. The results indicate failures in the installation and maintenance of venous accesses, exposure to adverse events such as pain and infection, and difficulties associated with the peripheral intravenous catheter. Strategies such as the DIVA Score help identify difficult accesses, while the use of Instrumental Therapeutic Toys contributes to the reduction of emotional trauma. The work of specialized professionals, continuing education and the reorganization of work processes are highlighted as essential for safer care. It is concluded that care with intravenous therapy in pediatrics requires a qualified and humanized approach, based on evidence, with a focus on the safety and well-being of the child.
