Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative pathology for which there is no cure or treatment that prevents its natural history. Therefore, there is a need to search for neuroprotective alternatives for this pathology. Thus, it is necessary to observe the possible effects of the leaf extract of Anacardium occidentale in the Drosophila melanogaster model. Through an integrative literature review, 62 articles were selected and through the application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 40 articles were selected for the final elaboration. It was observed that the leaf extract of Anacardium occidentale represents a valid possibility for analysis in Drosophila melanogaster models due to the presence of flavonoids in its composition. However, there is a need for further studies on the effects of these metabolites on in vivo models, as well as research to determine the correct dose, adverse effects and real feasibility of this proposed therapy.
