This study addressed the tripod of Distance Learning (DE), analyzing the interaction between student, teacher and tutor, with the aim of understanding how these connections influence the teaching-learning process. The bibliographic research investigated the roles and challenges of each actor in DE, exploring pedagogical theories, active methodologies and technological tools used in this context. The research revealed that the success of DE depends on the collaboration between student, teacher and tutor, and that each one must perform their roles in an integrated manner to ensure significant learning. In addition, it was found that the tutor has a role in the pedagogical and emotional support of the student, in addition to being essential to monitor the students' progress. The final considerations indicated that, although the EAD tripod has a positive impact, there are challenges, such as the need for continuous training of teachers and tutors, as well as the adaptation of pedagogical practices to digital technologies. The research suggested that new studies are needed to understand the use of active methodologies and the impact of technological tools in distance learning.
