Technological advancements and transformations in social and economic models directly impact career choices and labor market demands. In this dynamic scenario, education faces the challenge of preparing students for emerging careers, many of which do not yet exist. This article discusses the importance of integrating technical skills (hard skills) and socio-emotional skills (soft skills) in professional training. While technical skills ensure the efficient execution of specific functions, socio-emotional skills—such as creativity, adaptability, and emotional intelligence—are essential for workforce integration and success. Specialized literature, including studies by Tony Wagner (2014), Daniel Goleman (2000), and reports from the World Economic Forum (2016), reinforces the growing demand for interpersonal and cognitive competencies. Additionally, the role of technical education in preparing students for a flexible and globalized labor market, as advocated by Claudia Costin (2017), is highlighted. It is concluded that the ideal professional training must integrate technical knowledge and socio-emotional development, ensuring that individuals are prepared for the challenges and uncertainties of contemporary society.
