The school is not an isolated institution, but rather one that is open to receiving people who believe and place hopes in each generation. Since the teacher is the main agent in educational teaching, the objectives of this study were to analyze the role of the family and its importance in the school community, supporting teachers in the teaching-learning process. The data collection related to the objectives corroborates the descriptive methodology that was carried out through bibliographic and qualitative research, specifically in the electronic databases Lilacs and Scielo; through which one can perceive the importance of parents and school forming a team that works based on collaboration and sharing. If, on the one hand, the school alone is not enough to guarantee good academic performance, on the other hand, parents alone cannot provide comprehensive education either. Together, only they can contribute to the development and performance of children. The study showed that, for family participation to become truly positive and significant in school, a change in attitude on the part of everyone is necessary first and foremost.
