Collaborative learning is a teaching method in which students work together to achieve an educational goal, contributing ideas and experiences. This process involves the exchange of knowledge, the construction of shared understanding, and collective decision-making. Collaborative learning adapts to teaching objectives and student profiles, manifesting in group projects, debates, and problem-solving. In collaborative learning, the educator acts as a guide, facilitating the exchange of ideas and teamwork. They define goals, distribute tasks, monitor progress, and provide feedback. Therefore, the overall objective was to explore collaborative learning as a pedagogical method, detailing its definition, forms of application, and the role of the teacher as a facilitator in this process. The relevance of this research lies in its ability to elucidate collaborative learning as a fundamental pedagogical approach for the development of essential skills in the 21st century. This study is configured as a bibliographic research, based on theoretical sources to explore collaborative learning. The bibliographic research allowed us to explore collaborative learning, highlighting its potential for the development of skills in the 21st century. The method, which values the joint construction of knowledge and the role of the teacher as a guide, proves effective in various educational contexts.
