The rape of vulnerable individuals is a serious crime involving the sexual abuse of individuals incapable of consenting, either due to age, mental disability, or other conditions that make them vulnerable. This crime is outlined in Article 217-A of the Brazilian Penal Code and is characterized by sexual violence against children, adolescents, or people with disabilities. In the state of Amazonas, the incidence of this type of crime has been concerning, with high rates of cases reported over the last few decades. This study aims to analyze the causes and consequences of the rape of vulnerable individuals in the region, as well as discuss the actions taken to combat it. The objective is to understand the reality of the crime in Amazonas, identify the main challenges faced by victims and the justice system, and suggest possible solutions. The methodology used was a bibliographic survey, analyzing scientific articles, books, and institutional documents, to understand the panorama of sexual violence in the region. The results indicate that despite progress, the region faces serious limitations in combating this crime, requiring more effective public policies and stronger preventive actions. In conclusion, the rape of vulnerable individuals is an alarming crime, especially in the state of Amazonas, which demands more attention from the authorities. Although there are efforts to confront it, the lack of infrastructure and social vulnerability are persistent challenges. The implementation of more effective public policies and societal awareness are essential to reduce the rates of this crime and ensure the protection of victims.
