The research aimed to highlight the role of nursing in providing psychological support to patients undergoing hysterectomy, analyzing the effectiveness of interventions to improve emotional well-being and adaptation in the postoperative period. This is a narrative review of the literature, carried out in the Virtual Health Library, with a selection of articles published between 2019 and 2024, in Portuguese, with free access. Studies that did not meet the objective, were written in other languages, were published outside the stipulated period, or were unavailable for free were excluded. Initially, 268 studies were identified, but after applying the selection criteria, only five were analyzed in detail. The results demonstrated that nursing plays an essential role in postoperative care, both in physical monitoring and in providing emotional support to patients. Strategies such as active listening, support, and guidance for home care proved to be effective in minimizing emotional impacts such as anxiety and changes in self-image. It is concluded that humanized care, combined with family support and referral for psychological counseling, when necessary, strengthens the adaptation and recovery of these women. However, there is a need for further studies that deepen the relationship between nursing care and psychological support in the context of hysterectomy, aiming at more qualified and comprehensive care.
