Abstract

Skin cancer is a global health problem, including a high prevalence in the Brazilian population. Understanding the epidemiology of malignant melanoma in specific populations is necessary, so that preventive measures can be proposed. This study aimed to characterize risk factors regarding the incidence of malignant melanoma. This is an observational study carried out through the application of an online questionnaire sent to residents of selected cities. A total of 512 participants of both genders were included. From the data presented, it is concluded that most participants had phototype 2 (33.6%), regarding skin reaction when exposed, 35% reported burning little and always tan.The most are exposed to the sun less than 1 hour a day (63.4%), so that the greatest exposure occurs in the afternoon (49.2%).
