Dental caries is the most prevalent disease in dentistry, and the incidence of this pathology is associated with social, economic, political and educational conditions. In the indigenous community, these conditions are precarious. The general objective of this study was to evaluate the oral health of indigenous people, from 12 years of age, inhabitants of the Jesus de Nazaré village, located in the municipality of Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, Brazil. The population for the study was 50 Indians, who answered a questionnaire composed of questions related to health in general, in order to obtain an epidemiological survey of CPOD. It is a cross-sectional observational analytical research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The researched community has high values for the CPOD index, which may be the result of excessive consumption of foods rich in carbohydrates, poor brushing practice and lack of professionals to work in this group.
