Patients with physical, intellectual, mental or sensory disabilities have difficulty in oral hygiene, causing dental diseases such as tooth decay. Tooth decay is a disease that has accompanied the human species throughout history. The general objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of caries and treatment in an APAE with dental assistance and in an APAE without this assistance. 52 students attending APAEs in Barra do Garças-MT and Querência-MT were evaluated. With the study it was possible to assess the importance of assistance and the higher prevalence of cavities in the city without dental care.
