EDUCATION IN ONE HEALTH: A STRATEGY FOR PREVENTING ZOONOSIS INFECTION IN THE CITY OF JUIZ DE FORA

Abstract

The extension project entitled "Education in One Health: A Strategy for Preventing Infection by Zoonoses in the City of Juiz de Fora" aims to raise awareness among the city's population, with an emphasis on citizens who work directly in rescuing animals, about the potential risk of zoonotic diseases, as well as to identify ways to prevent infection. Among the various diseases that animals can transmit to humans, sporotrichosis, giardiasis, leishmaniasis and rabies were selected to be addressed in the project. This article aims to present the theoretical bases that underpin the project, present the methods selected to address the topic and present the results obtained from our interventions with the population of Juiz de Fora.
