The educational system based on the philosophy of omnilateral formation of professional and technological education in Brazil has reached such importance, given that the transformations in the world of work and productive activity in the 21st century. XXI, has been imposing knowledge and practices that transcend the old production x reproduction scheme of the past capitalist system. In this context, the aim of this text is to discuss, from different theoretical perspectives, work as an educational principle, highlighting the role of professional and technological education in Brazil. Methodologically, the use of bibliographical research is prioritized, in which the contributions to the purpose include the thoughts of Prodanov and Freitas (2013), as well as Batista and Müller (2020), Castro et al (2023), Saviani (2007), among others. With this, we have that, despite the productive and technological advances, based on the Brazilian reality, the educational system still provides a dualist education, despite, whether due to what was institutionally planned, or by the owners of the means of production, or even, due to the difficulties in accessing the most socially vulnerable to education and work opportunities.
