Abstract

Burnout is a psychological syndrome characterized by physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion resulting from prolonged exposure to stressors in the workplace. In medicine, this condition affects not only the well-being of professionals but also the quality of care provided to patients. This study aims to explore interdisciplinary strategies to prevent and treat burnout in physicians. The research was based on a systematic review of the literature, with data collected from the PubMed and Scielo databases, using the terms "Burnout", "Physicians" and "Occupational Health", combined by the Boolean operator "AND". It was concluded that burnout is a growing problem among physicians, amplified by long working hours, intense emotional demands, and high pressure on professional performance. The literature analyzed indicates that burnout compromises the physical and mental health of physicians and directly affects the safety and quality of patient care, generating a higher incidence of medical errors and professional absences. To address this problem, it is essential to adopt interventions that include psychological support, changes in work organization, and institutional policies aimed at the well-being of health professionals. Interdisciplinary strategies emerge as indispensable tools for addressing burnout in an integrated manner, encompassing everything from strengthening mental health to restructuring work environments. Implementing programs that prioritize health promotion, stress management, and continuing education is essential to creating a healthier organizational culture. These initiatives, when carried out in a coordinated manner, can provide significant improvements in the quality of life of physicians and, consequently, in patient care.
