This article presents social representation of social interaction among higher education teachers. This is a qualitative study, with bibliographical research, a free word association test, and a semi-structured interview with twenty teachers from in-person courses at a private higher education institution in the city of São Paulo, with the aim of identifying the meaning attributed by teachers to social interaction. By cross-referencing the results obtained, it is possible to identify the social representation of the participating teachers about social interaction, considering that the data are related to the experiences, opinions, attitudes, and images present. Based on this analysis, we can transform into manageable knowledge the factors that seem strange to us, that bother us, that are unfamiliar to us about social interaction in the educational context, in higher education.
