Abstract

This article discusses the National Exam for the Certification of Competencies of Young People and Adults (ENCCEJA), a test created to ensure the continuation of studies for those who did not complete elementary or high school in the appropriate time. In Brazil, ENCCEJA plays a crucial role in providing a new opportunity for millions of people to resume their studies, providing them with new horizons in both their personal and professional lives. The text addresses the assessment, considering its history, progress, and the structural components that compose it. Subsequently, the impacts and benefits that this assessment provided to the participants are presented, emphasizing how it has contributed to educational and social advancement. In addition to emphasizing its positive aspects, the text also discusses the challenges that ENCCEJA faces, such as the lack of adequate dissemination that limits the potential reach of the program. Finally, improvements and future ideas are proposed, including ideas for the inclusion of new fields of study, aiming to improve the structure and effectiveness of the assessment. This analysis highlights the importance of government policies aimed at inclusive education, emphasizing ENCCEJA as a crucial tool for promoting educational equity in Brazil.
