Abstract

This paper, in addition to addressing a little of the history of Youth and Adult Education in Brazil, from the arrival of the Jesuits to the present day, reflects on the difficulties encountered by students and teachers in learning and which factors influence the migration of young people and adults to this type of education, as well as the advantages and disadvantages encountered throughout the journey. The modality of youth and adult education, aimed at those who for some reason did not have access to school at the right age, despite the numerous challenges, has been shown to be a policy of social transformation, as it provides a new opportunity for young people and adults who wish to return to school in search of better opportunities within an exclusionary and competitive society. Thus, any educational program that does not meet these peculiarities will be halfway to failure, as it does not take into account the social and cultural conditions of the students. Thus, the General Objective was chosen to “Present through research how Youth and Adult Education acts as an instrument of personal transformation in the lives of mathematics students”. The bibliographic and documentary methodology, whose method is descriptive, based on the qualitative approach and field research, was adequate for the analysis of the object of study and the proposed objectives. It is concluded that the learning of mathematics occurs in an evolutionary way in the subject, and the way in which this learning has been worked on within the educational system also obeys an evolutionary process of society, given the expansion of the various means of using it.
