This study examines the importance of playfulness in the teaching-learning process in Early Childhood Education, focusing on methodologies that incorporate games and play as pedagogical tools. The general objective is to investigate the possibilities and limits of playfulness in Early Childhood Education. This research adopts a qualitative approach, using bibliographic review and analysis of theses and dissertations published between 2010 and 2020. The results indicate that playfulness is fundamental for children's cognitive and social development, promoting a meaningful learning environment. The active participation of educators is essential to mediate and enhance the playful experience, contributing to the construction of children's knowledge.
