Medical education based on ethics and humanization is essential for developing professionals who respect patients' individuality and address the complete context of illness.
To analyze the challenges and limitations in ethical and humanized training, a cross-sectional qualitative and quantitative study was conducted, evaluating the perceptions of medical students from an institution in Paraná, Brazil. Data were analyzed based on absolute and relative frequencies, considering a 95% confidence interval. Although 99.3% of respondents considered ethics and humanization important in public health, a deficient approach to these topics was identified in academic training, as 73.6% agreed that these subjects are often addressed superficially. This highlights the difficulty students face in effectively assimilating knowledge about ethics and humanization. Therefore, there is a need to enhance pedagogical approaches to these issues in medical education, involving the entire academic community.
