The objective of this study is to analyze educational actions as spaces for producing care aimed at re-signifying the spiritual dimension provided by the nursing team to critical patients. This is a qualitative literature review conducted between August and October 2024, analyzing studies from the SciELO, BDENF, and MEDLINE databases. Inclusion criteria encompassed free publications in Portuguese or English from 2019 to 2024, with the descriptors "Spirituality," "Nursing care," and "Critical patient." Monographs, reports, and dissertations were excluded. Data were gathered through comprehensive reading of the studies, organized into tables, and descriptively analyzed, focusing on objectives, results, and main findings. Results were presented concisely, prioritizing clarity. Spiritual care in nursing faces challenges such as conceptual ambiguity regarding spirituality and religiosity and gaps in academic training. Although the topic is addressed in a limited way within curricula, its importance is highlighted in coping with critical situations and alleviating suffering. The practice requires a holistic approach, communication skills, and multidisciplinary planning. However, barriers such as taboos and the lack of appropriate tools hinder the provision of care, underscoring the need for training to promote more humanized and effective care.
