This article discusses the role of universities in the training of nurses with an educator profile, highlighting the relevance of developing pedagogical practices throughout the nursing course and encouraging adherence to the teaching career. The objective is to raise awareness among higher education institutions about the need to train undergraduates in pedagogical skills, preparing them to work both in the training of new professionals and as health educators. The lack of pedagogical support during undergraduate studies is identified as a factor that limits the performance of nurses in formal education and health promotion. The article advocates the inclusion of pedagogical disciplines in the nursing course curriculum, aiming at the development of essential skills for educational practice. The methodology used consisted of a bibliographic review of national journals published since 2020, with the purpose of evaluating the impacts of pedagogical training on the training of nurses. The theoretical analysis addressed the construction of pedagogical knowledge in the academic context and the importance of integrating educational practices into the curriculum. In conclusion, the study reaffirms that pedagogical training is essential for the formation of more complete nurses, capable of playing the role of effective educators, promoting not only technical care, but also health education. Universities have the responsibility to prepare students for these challenges, strengthening the role of nurses in education and health promotion in different contexts.
