Abstract

Introduction: Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which represents a serious public health problem. During pregnancy, dengue infection can pose significant risks to both the mother and the fetus. The Dengue Clinical Management Flowchart provides us with additional information and a step-by-step guide to dealing with a case of dengue. It is remarkable how much the number of cases in 2024 has increased exuberantly compared to 2023, especially in vulnerable groups such as pregnant and postpartum women, specifically in the first days after delivery, due to physiological changes during pregnancy. Objectives: To investigate effective measures to control and prevent gestational risks resulting from dengue. Methodology: The research was defined as descriptive, as it is relevant in the investigation and description of the main aspects related to the topic addressed. Regarding the procedures, this study refers to a bibliographic survey of the literature through an integrative review based on methodological evidence. This study is based on the guiding question: What control and prevention measures are effective in reducing the risk of dengue fever during pregnancy? The research will be conducted through electronic searches of national and international articles with related data in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and PubMed Central ® (PMC). The data will be selected and analyzed based on their relevance in the scientific community. The searches will be performed using the following descriptors: “dengue fever”, “pregnancy”, “prevention” and “risk”. These descriptors were interconnected by the Boolean operator “AND” to facilitate the search for studies through data analysis. Final considerations: In the following study on dengue fever during pregnancy, we reaffirm the importance of a clinical approach to combating this arbovirus disease, highlighting its complications in pregnant women. We conclude that dengue fever is still a concern for the Ministry of Health, but by combining prevention policies, clinical monitoring of the main vulnerable groups and vaccination, we are able to build a more promising path to address the impact of dengue fever on pregnant women.
