Abstract

Tea tree essential oil is effective in treating acne in adolescents due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Studies show that it has significant antibacterial activity against the types of bacteria common at this stage of life. The research aims to analyze the effectiveness of tea tree oil, highlighting its benefits in fighting bacterial infections and treating acne lesions. The study is a literature review conducted between 1990 and 2024, using relevant sources such as scientific articles, the Statute of Children and Adolescents and guidelines of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics. It is important to use the oil correctly and under professional guidance to avoid adverse reactions and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. Thus, we can conclude that tea tree oil is a promising option to improve the quality of life of adolescents with acne, integrating physical and emotional care.
