This article sought to design sewage systems, focusing on the importance of an efficient design for public health and environmental preservation. The study begins with a review of the fundamental concepts related to sewage, including its composition and the relevant technical standards. Next, the calculation methods used for design are presented, taking into account factors such as the population to be served, the type of buildings and the characteristics of the terrain. Practical calculations were performed to determine the capacity of the pipes and the slope required to ensure adequate flow. The work also analyzes the importance of sewage treatment, highlighting the available technologies and their applications. The results show that adequate design not only prevents public health problems, but also contributes to urban sustainability. The conclusions point to the need for investments in infrastructure and the training of professionals in the area, in order to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of sewage systems.
