The objective of this work was to present the possibilities of new materials used in pulpotomy of deciduous teeth, emphasizing those that showed promising results. The methodology of this work consists of a bibliographic review, based on theoretical bases of articles published from 2008 to 2018, written in English, Portuguese and Spanish, which were selected from the online databases Bireme, Pubmed, Lilacs, Scielo, Portal Regional BVS and Google Scholar. The main result obtained by the dissertation of this work assumes that the pulpotomy technique, over the years, has gained a diversity of materials to perform the procedure, due to technological advances that contribute to better benefits in treatment, as well as the need for continuous education and adaptation to technological innovations in pediatric dentistry, aiming at significant improvements in children's oral health care. The conclusions of this work regarding the approach to pulpotomy in deciduous teeth demonstrate that they focus on the implications of the different materials used in this essential procedure in pediatric dentistry. It is also concluded that the future of pulpotomy in deciduous teeth depends on the continuity of research and the development of new materials that are efficient, safe and accessible, ensuring more effective and safe treatments for the pediatric population.
