ACCESS TO RURAL CREDIT AND ITS SOCIOECONOMIC IMPACTS FOR FAMILY FARMERS IN CACOAL, RONDÔNIA

Abstract

This article aimed to explore access to rural credit and its implications for family farming in Cacoal, Rondônia. The main objectives of the study are to identify the barriers that farmers face when accessing rural credit, assess the impact of this financing on the socioeconomic conditions of families, and propose recommendations to improve access to credit. The research was conducted with 52 family farmers using an interview form that covered personal aspects, property characteristics, experiences with credit, and associated socioeconomic impacts. The initial literature review provided a theoretical context on rural credit policies and the importance of financing for the development of family farming. Farmers face various challenges when trying to access credit, including excessive bureaucracy and a lack of information about available options. Additionally, technical assistance is a crucial factor that can influence the effectiveness of financial resource use. The research revealed that many farmers do not receive the necessary support to apply credit efficiently, which can limit the expected benefits. The study suggests that the implementation of public policies should focus on simplifying credit application processes and promoting training and technical assistance programs. Furthermore, initiatives that encourage the formation of community networks and informational events can increase awareness of available financing options.
