This paper addresses the importance of financial management in improving the quality of life of the population of the Northwest region of São Paulo. Based on concepts from renowned authors such as Peter Drucker, Henry Fayol and Warren Bennis, the study investigates the relationship between the population's indebtedness and their financial management, as well as characterizing the types of consumption, such as impulsive, compulsive or superfluous. The research uses a descriptive bibliographic approach, combining mixed qualitative and quantitative methods, and the objectives are to identify whether the population of the Northwest region of São Paulo is in debt and its impacts on financial management, highlighting the need for financial awareness and spending control to promote satisfactory personal and professional development. It is concluded that financial education and planning are essential to achieve a better quality of life and avoid problems related to indebtedness. This study is relevant to understanding the challenges faced by the population of the region and contributes to promoting a culture of financial responsibility.
