Population aging is a global phenomenon that poses significant challenges to the health of older adults, requiring special attention to the geriatric syndromes known as the "7 I's": Cognitive disability, Postural instability, Immobility, Sphincter incontinence, Iatrogenesis, Family/social insufficiency, and Communicative disability. These syndromes affect the quality of life of older adults and require multidisciplinary interventions to prevent complications and promote well-being. This study, based on a comprehensive literature review, investigated the implications of these syndromes on the health and quality of life of older adults, exploring interventions and care strategies that can preserve autonomy and improve necessary social support. The research covers works published between 2014 and 2024, using descriptors related to older adult health in databases such as PubMed and SciELO. The results highlighted highlight the importance of early detection and adequate treatment of geriatric syndromes, showing that a multidisciplinary approach is essential for maintaining the functionality and quality of life of this vulnerable population. The study shows that family and social support is essential for the care of the elderly, contributing to the reduction of isolation and depression. Thus, the integration of efforts between health professionals, family members and the community is crucial to meet the growing demands of this aging population. The study also highlights the importance of promoting a safe and suitable environment for the elderly, minimizing the risk of falls and promoting practices that reduce occurrences. With this, these coordinated efforts can result in a more inclusive and humanized care model.
